Summer Art camp 2008 (ages 7 - 12)

It’s that time of year again…

Get out your paints & brushes and put on some messy clothes – summer art camp is here!  GCMA’s Summer Art Camp offers children the chance to work with a variety of art media and learn about different techniques and art processes in a fun & safe environment. 

EACH WEEK campers will be arranged in age-appropriate groups: Ages 7 & 8, Ages 9 & 10 and Ages 11 & 12 and will participate in three art classes each day. Working with the theme of the week, campers rotate through painting/drawing, mixed media/sculpture and clay.

Art Camp Schedule

9am – 10:20am: 1st art period
10:30am – 10:50am: Snack*
10:50am – 12:10pm: 2nd art period
12:15pm – 1pm: Outside Lunch*
1pm – 1:30pm: Film in Auditorium**
1:40pm – 3pm: 3rd art period

*Please remember to send your camper with a bagged lunch & snack everyday.
**All films are related to the theme of the week

Camp Tuition

$130 for GCMA members (per week)
$150 for nonmembers (per week)

Extended Care

Extended Care is available at the following times:
8am – 9am:                 $20 (per week)
3pm – 5:30pm:            $30 (per week)

Faculty & Staff

ALL camp instructors are professional art instructors and are required to pass a criminal background screening.

Class Size

Class sizes are kept small to provide the best camp experience. Enrollment is limited to 15 students per group.

Registration

Spaces are limited- please register early!
Registrations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. All payments must be paid for in full to reserve a spot.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

GCMA reserves the right to combine or cancel any weeks that do meet minimum enrollment. Campers will be placed in an alternate camp when possible. If GCMA cancels a camp week, payment will be fully refunded. No refunds will be given on or after the first day of camp.

Week 1: May 27 – 30 • (closed May 26th)
Castles & Knights
Imagine a fantastic trip to the medieval times. Paint a knight, sculpt a dragon or build your own castle!

Week 2: June 2 - 6
Around the World in Five Days
Travel the world in just one week!  Visit Japan and learn the art of Calligraphy or go south of the border into Mexico and construct a piñata.

Week 3: June 9 - 13
Creatures of the Deep
Explore the world of the ocean deep and learn about the creatures that live there!

Week 4: June 16 - 20
Fantasy Fun
Elves, unicorns and fairies, oh my! 

Week 5: June 23 - 27
Action Heroes
Put on your cape and soar into this fun week of camp to design your own action heroes.

Week 6: July 14 – 18
Ancient Egypt
Grab your flashlight and map for an imaginary trip underground and uncover the mysteries of Egypt.

Week 7: July 21 – 25
Rainforest Adventure
Travel through the jungle and create art about animals, insects and all different kinds of wild life.

Week 8: July 28 – August 1
Space Station Vacation
Take off into outer space and construct a space shuttle, paint a galaxy or design an alien.

Week 9: August 4 – August 8
Sea Pirates
Cast off on an adventure out to sea and be the creator of your own pirate ship.

Week 10: August 11 – August 15
Jurassic Journey
Go back in time and visit the land of the dinosaurs!
